Garlic Asparagus Recipe

Asparagus spears with a garlic twist
Yield: 4    Preparation Time: 3 minutes    Cooking Time: 12 minutes
Need a quick asparagus dish? This one’s so easy to make, you don’t even have to be a cook to put it together. The ingredients are few and simple but the taste is surprisingly good.

340g of thin asparagus spears
3 cloves of garlic, crushed, peeled and minced
3tbsp of butter (you can also use olive oil as an alternative)
Sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper
A splash of white wine (optional)

Recipe Instructions

Put a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter (or pour the olive oil). Once melted and hot, add the minced garlic and stir for a few seconds until fragrant, then add the asparagus spears. Cover and allow it to cook for about five minutes, depending on how thin the spears are. The thinner the spears, the easier it would be to cook them.

Stir the spears from time to time. Do not leave the asparagus while they are cooking or you might overcook them. They should turn from green to bright green in color. A minute or two after that, they should be done with a tender crisp texture. You can choose to stir in a splash of white wine a minute before turning off the heat.

If you prefer your asparagus well-done, allow them to cook longer (about five more minutes) over low heat. Serve hot.
