Chicken and Asparagus in Orange Sauce Recipe

Chicken and asparagus with a hint of sweetness from oranges
Yield: 2    Preparation Time: 15 minutes    Cooking Time: 20 minutes
This recipe balances the salty flavor of soy sauce, heady scent of garlic and the sweetness of fresh orange extract. The presence of asparagus also provides an interesting nutty taste and texture in this chicken dish.

115g of chicken breast, sliced into strips
1tbsp of sesame oil
1 garlic clove, crushed, peeled and minced
¼ tsp of red pepper flakes
350g of fresh asparagus
1tsp of soy sauce
1tsp of honey
1tsp of sesame seeds
The juice and zest of 1 medium-sized orange
½ cup of cooked brown rice

Recipe Instructions

Cooking the chicken

Pour the sesame oil in a large skillet. Put it under high heat. Once hot, sauté the minced garlic until it releases its smell. Then, add chicken strips and stir. Season it with red pepper flakes and stir until well-combined. Let the chicken cook for around seven minutes or so.

Adding the veggies and incorporating the flavors

When the chicken has been cooked, add the asparagus. Cover and allow to cook for three more minutes. Meanwhile, get a small bowl and combine the soy sauce, honey, sesame seeds and the zest and juice of one fresh orange. Whisk them all together before pouring it into the skillet. Stir and cook for about a minute. Serve hot on top of half a cup of freshly steamed brown rice.
