Cheesy Asparagus Recipe

If you think asparagus with just mozzarella cheese and grated lemon peel is too simple to be delicious, think again. This recipe is not just a delight to the taste buds, it is also very easy and quick to make.


450g of thin asparagus spears, ends trimmed, rinsed and drained
115g of fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
½ tsp of lemon peel, grated
Freshly ground black pepper

Recipe Instructions

Steaming the asparagus

Get a steamer basket and secure it on a skillet that has been poured with water. Do not put a lot of water—just enough to cover the bottom of the steamer basket. Let it boil before putting the asparagus spears in. Cover and allow it to steam for about two minutes.

Topping with melted mozzarella

Once steamed, transfer the asparagus spears in a baking pan and top it with the shredded mozzarella cheese. Season with some salt and freshly ground black pepper before allowing it to broil for a minute or two or only until the mozzarella starts melting. Make sure that you place the baking pan about four inches away from the heat.

Sprinkle the grated lemon peel on top of the cooked asparagus before serving.
