Asparagus in Wine: A Recipe

The delicious taste of wine with the mild flavour and succulent texture of asparagus combined? It must be heaven. And it is! With this asparagus in wine recipe, you’d get to experience what culinary heaven really means.

It is very simple to make. All you need are the following ingredients:

~Two pounds of asparagus, washed and trimmed
~1/4 cup of white wine
~1/4 cup of butter
~1/4 teaspoon of black, ground pepper
~half a teaspoon of salt

After you have secured these ingredients, you are good to go. Begin by boiling the asparagus in a large pot of water for about two to four minutes.

Always check the colour of the asparagus. If it has turned a bright green shade, you can turn off the heat and remove the vegetables from the pot. Transfer them in a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process. Let it sit there for a few minutes—about three to five minutes—before draining all excess water/moisture.

In a large pan, melt the butter under medium heat. Once melted, pour the white wine making sure to stir slowly. Add the ½ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of black ground pepper to heighten the flavour.

After all the spices have been combined, add the boiled asparagus and allow to cook until you observe the sauce begin to thicken. Once it has achieved this consistency, turn off the heat and serve.
